After all the rains we’ve had lately in the St. Louis area, you’ve probably been outside to check out your home to see if there were any damages. Chances are you might have seen some green stuff on your vinyl siding. Yes, that’s mold and mildew growing right there on the side of your house. And it’s probably right in arms reach of your children touching it and sticking their hands in their mouth. It’s time for a good pressure washing.

You might be the kind of guy or gal that likes to tackle do it yourself projects around the house. There’s nothing wrong with that; in fact if you feel like your capable then we are going to share some basic ingredients for a house wash mix that you can use with your pressure washer in the St. Louis area, in the state of Indiana, it doesn’t matter really where you are from. And most pressure washing companies use something that is similar to this formula

First, you need to get the idea out of your head that psi is what does the cleaning, and the higher the better. We wrote an article on “How To Wash Your House Without Using A Pressure Washer”, and this article talks about the pressure of a garden hose is enough to effectively clean your home.

Second, take a ride to your local pool store. There are many pool stores in the St. Louis area that service pressure washing companies. Tell them you need 2-3 gallons of 12% sodium hypochlorite. You might be saying “Why can’t I just by some Clorox?” Store bought bleach just is not strong enough for what we are going to do. While you’re out, pick up a box of borax, usually found in the laundry detergent aisle at your local grocery store.

Third, pour the sodium hypochlorite into a 5 gallon bucket. With this, I personally like to add 4-5 cups of the borax. You also need to add about 4-5 ounces of dish soap as well. Stir this mix really well.

Finally, put your clear tube from your pressure washing into your new household cleaner. Rinse your windows on the side of the house you are working on first, and then apply using your black soap tip, starting at the ground and working your way up.

If all goes well, you will find this household cleaner works great for pressure washing houses in the St. Louis area.
